Independent pilot career guidance · UK & EASA routes clearly separated

Editorial Standards

How Just a Flying Dutchman researches, reviews and corrects pilot-career guidance.

Who writes and reviews the guidance

Core pilot-career guidance is written or reviewed by Joris Van Putten. Each guide identifies its author, journey stage and most recent substantive review date.

Source hierarchy

Regulatory claims should link first to the responsible authority, legislation or official publication. Industry sources may provide context but are not used to override an official requirement. Personal experience is identified as experience or opinion rather than regulation.

Regional accuracy

UK CAA and EASA information is labelled separately. A reader should never have to guess which licensing system a statement describes.

Commercial independence

Any sponsorship, affiliate relationship or free service relevant to an article must be disclosed. Payment cannot buy a ranking or remove a material criticism.

Corrections and updates

When a meaningful error is identified, it should be corrected promptly and the review date updated only when the content has genuinely been reconsidered. Time-sensitive programme openings belong in dated updates, not disguised evergreen claims.

Important limitation

The site provides educational career guidance. It does not replace advice from a regulator, approved training organisation, aviation medical examiner, solicitor or regulated financial adviser.
